Marquees are often used during celebrations to house guests. They are an ideal choice when the event is taking place outside. They allow guests to enjoy an outdoor experience is relative comfort as they are protected from the sun and wind. They can be set up to various levels of sophistication to suit any kind of event. The types of marquees available for hire depend very much on what the budget for the event is and the number of guests to be accommodated.

One of the earliest versions of these structures was probably the circus tent. Big canvas tents that accommodated the audience, performers and animals. While many traveling circus acts still use this medium, its use has since evolved.

Today, one of the most common times to see a marquee is during a wedding celebration. The tent is almost always white in color to suit the occasion. The tent size often depends on how many guests are in attendance with additional space for the performing band and a dance floor in the middle. Wedding tents often come with wall panels that can either be plain or have clear window spaces. They also have entrances that can be zipped up.

The simplest versions of these tents come with a simple tented roof that is created using a frame that is lifted atop poles along the walls. They do not have side panels. It is pretty much open to the air. The main covering comes from the roof section therefore does not protect against the wind. These types of marquees are very common at social events where the guests have to move around easily.

This design is not only popular at social events but also at businesses operated in the open. An example is with open air markets. Traders can easily set up the tents to protect their merchandise and the open walls easily allow customers to flow in and out of the area. They are referred to as frame tents because of their stark design. The lack of a central pole makes it easy for the trader to set up a product display.

One of the most attractive tents is the pagoda. Its name is derived from the beautiful peaked roof it has. The tent is usually small in size but can accommodate more guests by being joined to several others. Its small size makes it suitable for use at the entrance of buildings and larger tents. Here guests can check in and drop off presents.

Many of the modern tents in use are made with aluminium frames. This material is suitable because it is lightweight enough to be easily carried around, dismantled and assembled, and still be strong enough to resist the pull of strong winds and carry the weight of the canvas. It also means that not much labour is required to do the work of setting up the tents.

Just as there are various types of marquees based on design there are also various rates that are applied. The more elegant the design, the more expensive it is. They are also built to accommodate various numbers of people hence one design can come at various dimensions. The larger the tent the more expensive it is. When making a selection, be sure to consider your budget, number of guests and the design you want.
