The Careers of Famous Artists from New Orleans

From the quantity of famous artists in New Orleans, it would appear there's a spirit about the city that draws artistic souls. The musical stylings of Dixieland Jazz flows throughout the French Quarter reminiscent of the celebrated musician and local son Louis Armstrong. The trolleys clanging through the city impressed the title of the Pulitzer Prize winning play \”A Streetcar Named Want\” by famous playwrite Tennessee Williams. There are several famous artists from New Orleans and many more who've answered to the call of the city \’and moved to the Crescent City to indulge in the steam-laden, jasmine-scented atmosphere.

Enrique Alferez

Enrique Alferez (1901-1999) was an acclaimed sculptor who born in Mexico and fought with Pancho Villa\’s army before managing to flee to the U. S.. Alferez studied art in Chicago, and his progress was fast as he had worked with his father carving wooden non secular statues. Alferez discovered New Orleans on a trip home to Mexico in 1929. Alferez lived in other places as well but kept returning to New Orleans for the rest of his life. His work was in the Art Deco style and may be seen in many public locations round the city, including the floral gardens and the roads of the Central Business District.

Harry Connick Jr.

Harry Connick Jr. Is a pianist, big-band leader/conductor, singer, composer, and actor who was born and grew up in New Orleans. By age three, Connick was playing a keyboard and was just nine years old when he performed a Beethoven concerto with the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra. His huge break that makes him a famous artists from New Orleans came when the actor Rob Reiner commissioned Connick to compose the music for the sound track to the 1989 film \”When Harry Met Sally\”. As well as his music, Connick has had roles in more than 20 films and on countless Television and Broadway shows.

Donald Harrison

Donald Harrison, \”The King of Nouveau Swing\”, is a sax player, band frontman and composer who is considered among the most significant musicians of the new millennium. He is one of the most gifted musicians in the country. Harrison is a native of New Orleans and studied at the New Orleans Center for Creative Humanities and Berklee Varsity of Music. He has combined swing with other musical forms to create a sound that is all Donald Harrison.

Anne Rice

Author Anne Rice is one of the New Orleans famous artists because of her chilling writing about vampires and other creatures in non-physical Gothic fiction. Her 100 million copies sold have also included Christian literature and erotica and make Rice one of the top selling writers in modern history. She is a native of New Orleans, whose Post Office-employee pop also wrote. Her man was a poet, and her boy is a top selling writer.
