Philadelphia Famous Artists Make a Name

The history of the United States is deeply seeded in the city of Philadelphia. Besides being known as \”The City of Brotherly Love\”, Philadelphia also the location of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the home of the Liberty Bell, and birthplace of many notable people. There are a number of famous artists in Philadelphia that are native to the city, and plenty more that have come to make the city their home.

Philadelphia Icons

Many famous artists from the city of Philadelphia have shaped Philly\’s history. Benjamin Franklin called Philadelphia home and native Betsy Ross is credited with sewing the very first American flag. John Sydney Blyth was a respected actor who was best known for his parts in the Shakespearean plays of Hamlet and Richard III. Bill Keane is the well known cartoonist who provided families with memories of fun with his comic The Family Circus. One of America\’s most loved T.V. pas, Bill Cosby, is also a Philadelphia local.

Philadelphia Actors

Many famous artists from Philadelphia are actors, like Richard Gere, an actor known best for his roles in movies such as Pretty Lady, Sommersby, Chicago, and others. Kevin Bacon, also a star of the silver screen, famous for his parts in flicks like Animal House, Footloose, Flatliners, Tremors, and plenty more. David Boreanaz actor and director best known for the television series Bones and Angel. Tina Fey, actress and comic, most well-known from her skits in 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live. Will Smith is another star who has played roles in pictures such as Men in Black and Independence Day. His performing talents have also been seen in television and as a successful singer.

Philadelphia Public Art

As well as these Philadelphia famous artists, the city is also recognised as having the best quantity of public art, in large part thanks to the Fairmount Park Art Association established in 1872. This organization is focused on to making certain that in the future there will be be lots more famous artists in Philadelphia. This was just the first of many steps which helped maintain attention on the sciences, art and culture developing Philly into an amazing cultural center.
