Craft Fairs Selling vs. Online Selling

by Mara Hernandez-Capili

In these present times, more and more people are finding ways on how to make money aside from their usual jobs. More employees are looking for sideline or other business opportunities in order to have extra money to buy that dress, spend on a dream family vacation or simply just to add up on her earnings. They usually make use of their skills of their talents in order to earn extra cash.

Creative people usually tap their inner core gifts to make extra money. They make crafts and sell them at craft fairs. Craft fairs or shows are excellent venues where creative minds and spirit meet. They make use of their talents in order to earn more and thus fend for their needs more. Craft fairs are good venues for them because they are directly associated with people who are willing to buy their products.

Online selling is also an option where you can sell your goods using the internet as your medium. You can take images of your work and post it in your websites or blog for buyers to see. It states there your products information along with its description and price. Online selling is a cheaper alternative to sell your stuffs since you dont need to pay booth or exhibit dues. It means no registration/ booth fees, no transportation and membership dues which are common on craft fairs.

So what is the better option in selling your crafts?

These two have their own share of advantages and disadvantages. Selling in festivals will give you a first hand view and experience on selling. It will provide a first hand encounter or interaction with your buyers, which is a very important factor in selling. I prefer selling to crafts fairs. Why? It is because of the experience of that you will gain by selling your stuffs face to face. I believe that interacting and speaking with your customers are a best way to learn how to effectively sell and be good in the business.
