When it comes to fast remote control cars as you will soon discover there are a wide range to choose from. Although the gasoline powered ones tend only to reach speeds of between 50 and 60mph there are others which are quite capable of reaching speeds of between 70 and 80mph.

Generally the ones that are able to reach such speeds are the ones known as nitro remote control cars and which are powered by a fuel which contains nitro methane. It is this fuel which provides the power and speed for these cars to then travel at the speeds stated above.

There are various different styles of nitro remote control cars available but the most popular ones are those that look like touring cars, but are only 1/10th the scale of the real life counterparts. Even though these cars can travel at high speeds in a straight line when it comes to cornering they become difficult to handle because of the weight of the fuel which can place the car off balance.

When it comes to fast remote control cars of this kind it isn’t a case of filling the fuel tank and then racing them, you need to learn how to prepare them correctly first. The first thing you will need to do is actually prime the engine with fuel. Then after priming the engine a glow start has to be attached to the glow plug in order to get it started.

Although most good quality nitro remote control cars do come with a glow start some don’t and this is something you will then need to purchase. After you have attached the glow start now the recoil starter can be pulled. The recoil starter needs to be pulled back quickly and released as soon as the engine has started. Be careful when pulling on the recoil as too much effort and the spring on it could become damaged.

Normally it only needs you to pull on the recoil starter once in order to get the engine started as long as it is done properly, however there may be times when you need to do this a second time. If problems arise the first thing to do is check the fuel and air mixture is correct and then once the engine is running you will have to adjust this. The only way you can tell if the engine is running properly is by listening to the sound it makes.

As these types of fast remote control cars have engines which function in the same way as to ones in real cars they need time spent on maintaining them. A good maintenance schedule carried out on a regular basis will ensure that all components of the engine are functioning properly.

As well as thinking about the cost of purchasing fast remote control cars and the cost of the fuel to power them you also need to consider just how much it will cost you to keep them in good condition. Those fast remote control cars that are kept well maintained not only do go at much higher speeds, but will also provide you with hours of fun as well.
