National Air and Space Museum
One of the most well liked museums in Washington DC is the Nation's Air and Space Museum. It homes the biggest space and air collection in the world with over 50, 000 objects including spacesuits, spacecrafts, aircrafts, rockets, balloons and art. In addition, it homes many photos, documents, films and manuscripts. With its countless and sundry displays, this museum appeals to young and old alike. For those that love space and flight this museum is outstanding. Some of the exhibits include the Wright Siblings, Lunar exploration vehicles the history of space flight and WWII aviation. Visitors can also experience flight in the Flight Simulator Section.
National Museum of American History
The National Museum of American History is the perfect place for those who love history. Among Washington DC museums, the Nat has a sizeable collection of artifacts that span history, culture, the humanities, science, medication and technology. Though it may appeal more to the older crowd, it has something for everybody. Some of the most fascinating exhibits include snowboarding, lasers, inventions, the history of cash, the history of the presidents and the 1st ladies, America at war thru the ages and 19th century America.
National Museum of Natural History
The National Museum of Natural History has a bunch of over 126 million examples and artifacts. Many of these artifacts and samples are placed on loan to other museums across the land. The National Museum of Natural History is among the most frequented museums in Washington DC. It is appealing to old and young alike. There are a few hand-on experiences for the young including a few Discover stations, a Forensic Lab, and the Discovery Room. Other interactive programs for every age include the IMAX Theater and the Butterfly Pavilion. The museum also has many exhibits including birds, mammals, dinosaurs, insects, the ocean, ancient Egypt, bones and the universe.
Smithsonian American Art Museum
The American Art museum displays design from over 7,000 artists round the nation. There are countless art medias represented including pictures, sculptures, paintings, prints and drawings. There are several pretty designs displayed throughout the museum. One is Georgia O\’Keefe\’s Manhattan. One really illuminating sculpture is For SAMM, which was created by Jenny Holzer. This sculpture is literally made from lights. Another engaging sculpture is the Game Fish, which was produced by Larry Fuente. This sculpture was made of little gewgaws, beads and toys. This museum appeals to art fanatics and an older crowd.
