Art is defined as anything which can entertain people. It can be considered as the expression or application of creative skill and imagination, especially through a visual medium.
Art imitates life, and that\’s what makes it an important part of our being. There are various forms of art such as music, movies, theater, literature, fine arts, visual arts, graphic designing and much more. As far as entertainment goes, we all know its importance in today\’s living. It takes our mind off from hassles of our lives. Television, internet, cell phones, gaming consoles, gadgets and gizmos are the main sources of entertainment today.
Art history, as we know it in the 21st century began in the 19th century but has precedents dating to the ancient world. Over the course of the 20th century, a wider vision of art history has developed. Performing arts like Music, Dance, Drama and other forms of arts like painting, literature, sculpture etc became popular during the medieval ages. During ancient times art and entertainment was something that was associated only with the royalty. Kings and emperors were the chief patrons of art and they paid the artists well. Michelangelo, DaVinci and Picasso are Great Masters of art at that time. The contributions of Shakespeare, Marlowe and Spenser to art and literature are so vast. Wordsworth, Shelley and the prose writers like GB Shaw and TS Eliot sets forth a history in the word of art and entertainment.
During the post modern era, as technology has advanced, much art and entertainment is exploring the possibilities of the techniques available. Movies and television are the major entertainers of the day. Nowadays movies use the possibilities of a good narrative along with exceptional music as well as the technology to create a unique audio-visual experience which improves day by day.
Arts & Entertainment industry is considered to be the greatest revolution of present age. These two are very important aspects of our life. Art and entertainment are both things that are perceived. Good art and good entertainment both produce a satisfying experience for the beholder.
