If you are someone with a taste for a unique and different sort of craftworks, then perhaps you’ll enjoy the Bread and Puppet Festival held yearly in Vermont. Newcomers will understand the event to be fresh bread whilst watching puppet-theater, whilst the old comers will know that there is the belief that art is basic to life, and should be given freely. This is present at this event.

There is a strong but peaceful political message in the event, which has received its fair share of both praise and criticism. There are those that view it as a good way to show patriotism, and a way to propagate ideas that may benefit the nation. Some others connect it with the old Roman metaphor of “bread and circus”; which is associated with old politicians who sought favor with the populace by giving away free bread.

It is up to the people decide attending to decide whether the political associations of the event would be to their liking. But to those with a fascination with art, you will enjoy the masterful puppets and other crafts that are to be seen in the event regardless of your political inclinations. As an added bonus, you get free garlic bread during the presentations, as well.

As someone who has an avid interest in the arts and crafts, I have appreciation for the Puppet festivals for its puppets. I am in awe at what they are able to craft quite masterfully, and years of experience under their belt makes readily shows. Puppets are special crafts; they have to be manipulated quite skillfully, so durability is a consideration besides design.

If you want to have a good time enjoying political puppet theaters with a good loaf of bread on your hands, then the Bread and Puppet Festival is the event for you. Find out when this and other shows are held by looking for Vermont Craft Shows online today!
