How To Keep Your Child Interested in Piano
Having a child that is bored with his piano lessons is a sure sign of disaster. They are probably on the brink of giving up, and once they have given up it is very hard to get them back. The best way to keep your child interested in piano is to offer them games, rewards and praise on a constant basis. By putting this into effect, you will find that your child accepts the lessons and even begins to look forward to them.
A child will learn more by putting the piano lessons into game form than any other way. To a child life is a game, and they will play almost any game with a lot of enthusiasm. You just need to provide the games for the piano and he will follow. The child can learn to read notes with the game, learn about sheet music and all the different aspects of the piano by putting it into game form. The results are astonishing when you start doing it.
If the child is bored you can help him stick to his lessons by offering him a reward at the end of each one. It does not have to be a big reward for the child to finish his lesson, but you should make it something special to him. An example of a small effective reward might be a package of chewing gum, ten extra minutes playing his video games or an extra fifteen minutes to stay up before bedtime. All children will react differently to different rewards, but all children will play their lessons every time, once you have found the small reword he is willing to work for.
The child does not understand that he needs to practice so that he can have this gift of being able to play the piano. He is not able to see the long-term goal as you can and you really need to appreciate this when you are working with him. All he can see when he is sitting at the piano may be the other things he could be doing with this time, and his time is very valuable. You see, he has games he wants to play.
Give your child games with the piano and he will not be as anxious to leave the piano bench. Give him rewards as a reason to stick with it, and you will see total cooperation throughout the entire lesson. You have to keep your child interested in piano for his own good.
These are real workable ideas that will keep your child interested in piano. You will probably reach a point where you no longer have to use these methods to keep your child’s involvement because he will automatically learn to love playing once he has reached a certain level. Help them stick with it and you will have a real piano playing child on your hands.
