How-to Hypnosis: Misconceptions
The world today is full of deceptions, misconceptions, and most importantly perceptions; when learning about new things, it is often hard to tell these apart.
Hypnosis is no stranger to an incredible amount of misconceptions, which is why it is important to really understand what those misconceptions are before assuming you can or cannot accomplish an objective through hypnosis. To really understand what hypnosis, or anything for that matter, is you must first understand all that it is not.
After becoming aware of what hypnosis is not, the only remainder is what hypnosis is.
Many false pretenses have been made through the media about hypnosis, most of these through movies and word of mouth. An important thing to note is that you cannot dominate someone’s mind through hypnosis, you cannot control every action of just anyone using hypnosis.
The will of a human being is another thing that cannot be dominated using hypnosis. Basically hypnosis isn’t somehting you can use to dominate the world in anyway or take over the human race, so if this is your intended destination then you might want to look into a new way of getting there.
There are probably endless amounts of misconceptions surrounding hypnosis, but this is usually true and typical of any kind of work associated with having power over other’s mind, thoughts, actions, and ideas.
Many false ideas about hypnosis and the associations with hypnosis are created by societies acknowledgment of the power behind hypnotic methods. An example of this being the power of money; When someone has alot of money, it is thought that they must have alot of power. If you do not know how to use your power wisely though, you will fail.
Any eloquent and masterful hypnotists have become so by first wiping celan from the slate any misconceptions about hypnosis.
The most common of these misconceptions about hypnosis are those dealing with the power of it. Although it is true that you can exercise a sort of power over your subjects’ mind, it is not true that you will be able to completely control them.
Quite the opposite, part of hypnosis that few are aware of is that hypnosis is actually a type of negotiation with the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind is where you store your base of morals and ethics, and while you can as a hypnotist negotiate with the unconscious, you will never be able to change or control one’s morals and ethics.
The beliefs you hold, your ideas, and your moral standards that you choose to live by are unbreakable and stored in the unconscious. This is your own ethical code.
The complete control over one anotehr is a common myth in hypnosis. A person will only do what they want to do, even if they are in a hypnotic trance. That is why this is a myth.
The common entertainment of stage hypnotists is a good example of this. Audience members will be selected or will volunteer for the hypnotist’s act. These volunteers know that they might be asked to do something that they may not be aware of, even if they are embarrassing. On some level they know what the limit is.
Volunteers crave attention from being exhibitionists on some level in their minds. They are consciously ok with the fact that they know they will be controlled by the hypnotist because there is no conflict with their moral code.
