A lot of people nowadays have the notion that all that yoga does for the body is to stretch it. On the contrary, it is a total body workout that gives a lot of health benefits. There are two sides to yoga. The first one is the yoga pose and the second one is the yoga lifestyle.

Yoga pose is all about the exercises that you do in a yoga class. Aside from stretching your limbs, you also exercise your breathing. The advantage with yoga is that it can be done anywhere. Props like yoga blocks could even aid you while you do your yoga poses even if you are by yourself. There are some poses that may require the assistance of another person, but if you\’re alone, you can make use of some props. Props also provide support for beginners and even experts who want to do more difficult poses.

The yoga lifestyle on the other hand goes beyond the exercises. It involves a change in your way of life. One important thing that has to be followed when you embrace the yoga lifestyle is diet. For the western culture the shift to a yoga diet can be a total overhaul as it involves eating organic foods and fasting. And all these lifestyle changes and exercises are not only done for fitness but for a heightened sense of spirituality.

If you want to do yoga, you can enroll in some of the yoga classes offered in your place. You can also watch instructional videos and just go get some yoga equipment to aid you. One good equipment is the yoga block that can help you with your balance and alignment of poses.
