There\’s a misconception that there\’s an all in one solution for chairs for bad backs for everyone. Here\’s a few things to keep in mind.

Sometimes, one chair is simply not enough. I use a combination of chairs to offer the best solution for myself. Rule 1 is only select a high back chair- they distribute weight more evenly. You also want to take into account a few other things like recline angle and height adjustment.

I love my high back office chair. But I also have a kneeling chair (sometimes referred to as an ergonomic chair) to make sure I don\’t get cramped up.

Just as important as it is for me to switch positions and/ or chairs, I do so with the ergonomic chair, as it can be rough on the knees. That being said, I like to alternate between my \”main\” chair and this one.

My ergonomic chair is what I choose when I\’m having a relatively pain free day- it really helps with posture as well and strong back muscles will go a long way toward reducing back pain.

Of course, once in a while I like to sit back in my reclining high back office chair and just relax, but everything in moderation. Ultimately, I decide what I\’m going to use and when according to how I feel in the morning.

I\’d be remiss in writing an article about chairs for bad backs without mentioning that finding the perfect tilt angle is crucial in making sure your back experiences as little strain as possible. You\’ll know when you find the right position, because you\’ll get a \”weightless\” sensation and feel relief in any area that is prone to back pain.

Find a flat surface that can support your body weight and hold your weight up by your arms and you\’ll get an idea of how this feels. Did you feel the spinal decompression that lets your discs expand?

Don\’t skimp on chairs either- personally, I like metal arms on my chairs, as they just hold up much better than plastic. And as simple as it may seem, take your other office furniture into account to be sure your new chair will not be a tight squeeze.

Nothing beats hear for soothing a sore back and you can get models of chairs with built in heat if you like. Certainly, the choice is up to you, but a simple heating pad is great and can be placed just right easily.

Hopefully, this article helped you to find some guidance toward selecting your chairs for bad backs.
