The art history of China is long, special and mysterious. Following all, the country is famous for coming up with different revolutionary art forms like Chinese calligraphy and papercuts. This acceptance of the West has influenced Chinese art in two ways. For one, Chinese artists have become exposed to revolutionary ideas and are no longer limited to standard themes, thanks to the brand new ideas and themes that they\’ve developed.

The other change was the adoption and development of modern strategies and mediums of artistic expression. Just as the west has been awe struck by the ancient tactics of the Chinese, the Chinese too have been awe struck by the ultra modern methods of the west. Therefore both parties tried their hands on experimenting with each others strategies and mediums thus resulting in a fused art form that had a exclusive appeal.

Today China has some quite nicely identified contemporary artists that have managed to gainworld wide acclaim. Liu Ye is one amongst the several contemporary Chinese artists that is known for his contemporary paintings. Yet another popular contemporary artist who specializes within the field of photography is Wang Qingsong. He recently released a series based on the 2008 Olympics with which he worked some acrobats to make it abstract and artistic.

Zhang Huan is really a contemporary Chinese sculptor who has managed to attract world wide attention with his out of the box concepts and spot on execution. His recent works contain the sculpture series of the bull and the Marble arm. YueMinjun is one of China\’s most popular contemporary artists who gained fame via his series of self portraits in the form of paintings and sculptures. It took the artist a lot more than ten years to complete the series.
