Home to Disneyworld, Epcott Center and Universal Studios, Orlando pretty much has the market stitched up on entertainment parks. Jacksonville is a rather more grounded kind of place that likes good music and good fun. Amusement parks in Jacksonville involve more good old skool fun like colonnades, mini golfing and go-karts, though there is a Jacksonville water park. Also , Jacksonville is home to a park where even really young children can drive dune carts and get into the action.

Adventure Landing

There are two Adventure Landing locations in the Jacksonville area, one in the town and one on the beach. The Adevnture landing in the city is littler and composed of small golfing, Pirate\’s Quest Laser Tag, an arcade and Adventure Speedway Go-Karts. The bigger Adventure Island on the beach also can include Shipwreck Island, a Jacksonville water park.

The tiny golf at Adventure Landing consists of 2 18-hole courses and lush landscaping makes the atmosphere fun as well as enjoyable. Area 51 Laser Tag games lasts about 15 minutes each. The Wacky Worm Roller Coaster travels at a respectable speed, which makes it most interesting to kids 4-12. The batting cages at Adventure Landing offers softball and baseball at different speeds. This is a great spot for kids to check their skills against faster pitching than they're used to. If they're not the highly competitive type, then they can just hit some slower balls for kicks. Adventure Speedway Go-Karts run on a 1/4-mile long track at Journey Speedway has straightaways as well as turns. Better yet the results of the race are posted.

Dune Buggy Adventure Park

This is not only one of the most unique theme parks in Jacksonville, but in all of Florida. Youngsters of all ages have an opportunity to ride a dune cart on a track. There's not an age limitation, but there are height restrictions. Drivers must be at least 4 feet tall and passengers must be at least 3 feet tall. Kids drivers are required to drive with an adult and protective eyewear and helmets are available. Once the kids are prepared to drive, they'll take their cart over small hills, around light bends and probably through the mud depending on conditions. There aren\’t races at Dune Buggy Adventure Park, everybody just rides for kicks. Park comforts include picnic tables and the park have grills upon request. The park is usually booked for birthday parties, but a check on their website.
