The Finer Nuances Of Buying A Digital Camera

by Chris Campbell

Ever been burned by paying too much for a product? Later to realize, that if only you had looked around a little bit you could have saved yourself a bunch of cash. It happens. I know I’ve done it before. Doesn’t matter, if it’s digital cameras, electric shavers, or goldfish. Having been over charged in the past is no guarantee it won’t happen in the future. But, with the biggest, baddest, boldest shopping tool at your disposable you can stack the odds in your favor. The best part of all is, it won’t cost you anything to use it.

Even though I like my compact Canon, for a DSLR I narrowed my choices to the Nikon D60 or the Sony A300. I eventually chose the D60 and I ordered it from Amazon. Profiting of their 30-day price match policy, I got some of my money back. Because the price of the Nikon D60 has gone down a few times and they were fast to refund the difference from what I initially paid. But keep in mind that Amazon doesn’t warn you when the price changes, it’s up to you to follow for 30 days if it drops.

Why I chose the Nikon over the Sony is simple: it’s less heavy and compact, making it easier to carry; also, the LCD menu is intuitive and clear and, of course, because Nikon is well-respected for the fine lenses it produces, and in a DSLR it’s really about which line you want to follow in purchasing lenses in the future.

Even though the camera doesn’t fit in my pocket like I used to carry my point-and-shoot devices, it’s still pretty comfortable to have with you. Thanks to kit lens’ VR (vibration reduction) and its neat balance with the camera’s compact body, the weight of the lens won’t point it down.

Although you will find that DVD camcorders are more expensive than Mini DV, they will still save you a lot of trouble. DVD camcorders are capable of saving images straight to your digital video disc which you can keep for a long time.

Take note of the size and weight of the digital camcorder you plan to buy. You must know exactly your purpose of getting your digital camcorder.. Smaller camcorders are light and handy. Big and heavy camcorders, on the other hand, are less comfortable to carry but they have more features and significant lenses.

Always consider the digital camcorder’s features before making a choice. Give importance to the way it has been created. Hold the camcorder for a few minutes to check your chemistry with the best digital camcorder you have. If it is possible, try out the lighting and effect features of the digital camcorder to test it up.
