Roof is the most integral part of the house. It is one of the largest investment for any home owner. The look of the clay tile roof is timeless, but the roofs themselves are not. The roof is not the kind of thing which can be replaced frequently. So it should be installed properly so that it would last a minimum of fifteen years.

The different class of roofing is mostly relied on the type of climate and the area where you are residing. Always make sure that you decide the roofing type according to your entire home structure and the climatic conditions of your area. The clay tile roofing does not need much care as its longevity is more as compared to the other classes of roofing.

If there are some advantages, disadvantages will surely accompany. The disadvantage in the clay tile roofing is that everyone can not fix the tile. An expert is needed for fixing it. Also, you will encounter the same problem during the renewal time.

This clay type roofing needs specific materials which are quite costly as compared to other roofing types. This type of roofing is suitable for the hot climate, where the roof is shielded with clay tiles that prevents the painful heat.

Repairing a clay tile roof is not very easy though. But if you have proper tools, you can also easily do it on your own. At first, chip out the cracked mortar with a cold chisel and hammer. Then remove the cap tiles carefully. You have to pay attention to the order of the tiles so that you can replace them in the same order.

When the cleaning part gets completed, keep the tiles under water for some hours. Then amalgamate one part of cement to three parts of sand and add sufficient water to make a proper tight mortar. Then with a small trowel, spread the mortar all over the place.

Then refill the tiles and polish up any mortar intruding into the trowel. If any major repair is required, then do hire a experienced roofer.

This type of roofing is environment friendly and can be recycled easily.
