The Epiphone DR-100, at $120 to $150, is another pricing step down in an excellent cheap acoustic guitar. Its top is manufactured of select-grade spruce, while its back and sides are crafted from mahogany. It’s meant for beginners and would require a trade-up down the road. This is particularly sad for young people, which are maybe at their first encounter with music and willing to play. Second-hand guitars have a wealth and beauty all their own and you may actually like it better than one that is brand new. Go to a guitar store that offers a wide range of second-hand cheap acoustic guitars and look around and play them until you find the one that is perfect for you.

If you are going to buy a cheap accoustic guitar, choose one with a solid wood top as opposed to a plywood top. You will be rewarded with a much richer, fuller tone. Look for solid wood sides and back as well, it will be worth spending a little more.

Since the day Cuban cigars were discovered, they have enjoyed a healthy growth with period of slowness every once in a while. That is just a natural curve for things, you go up, you come down, you stay steady for a while, you get the idea. Cuban cigars once professionally packaged, were ready to go right off the bat. You would just open a cuban cigar box of your favorite Montecristo cigars or what not and go from there. Ofcourse I can go an on about Cohiba cigars but I’ll save that for another time.

Yes just like some great tasting wine (Which goes great with Cuban cigars by the way), you can definitely bring the most out of your favorite Cuban cigars by simply letting them age. The best way to age and preserve your Cuban cigar for the longest time is by getting an item called a humidor. A humidor’s job is retain the cigar’s properties which include the construction, taste etc. A humidor produces the same temperature required for you to have the perfect Cuban cigars, all the time. The best temperature is between 65 to 70 degrees and with a humidor, you can definitely maintain that.

However, don’t be disheartened because Cuban cigar humidors vary when it comes to prices and today they are very affordable. It all depends on what your needs are and how many Cuban cigars you smoke. If you smoke a few a month, get a portable humidor. This way your cigar travel with you and you can easily carry like 3 - 5 sticks. If you are looking for a humidor and a nice piece of furniture, than why not try a table humidor? Some of them are truly art pieces and will bring your existing living room to life. In order to record sound effects for a personal or professional sound effect library one first needs a quality recorder. Personally I’ve tried all sorts of pricey gear and microphones throughout my sonic adventures only to discover that a solid $150 to $400 handheld digital recorder no larger than an old-school cassette tape box suffices to create sounds good enough for placement in any Film, TV, and media project. In addition, these units run on battery power and the recorded files can be dragged onto your desktop via USB.

You must make sure that any recorder you purchase records up to at least a 48k sample rate .wav file because audio for video is prepared as 48k. Any 44.1k samples you have would work fine on a CD but for DVD usage they will have to be up-converted to 48k which can result in “aliases,” sort of sonic Ghost »”>ghosts that compromise the quality of your recording. Also, 48k sound effects command a higher price on downloadable sites because their sound quality is simply better due to more samples per second of audio.

Two basic categories of sound effects to be recorded are “ambiences” and “hits.” Hits are single audio events like a burp, splash, or car horn. Ambiences are longer recordings generally between 30 seconds and 10 minutes that contain background sounds such as those found on city streets, in a hotel lobby, or a doctor’s office.

Both categories are necessary in order to create a good sound effect library. You merely have to go to location such as a train station and hit record in order to get ambience recordings and thus they are the easiest to obtain. More planning and scheming, however, is required for hits because you need to gather the objects and perform the actions to be recorded (called foley) or you need to wait outside police stations, for example, for that perfect siren sound.

The basics of recording a sound effect is literally as simple as hitting the record button. However, there are several tips to keep in mind in order to get the best recordings possible.

2. Record all of your sounds as “hot” as you can, meaning as loud as possible without overloading the microphone. You need to pull back from your source if you notice a red LED light on your recorder which signals that your incoming signal is too hot. Capturing the strongest signal without distorting is the goal.

2. Purchase a 10dB pad that fits between your microphone and digital recorder will enable you to record sounds with high decibel levels, such as jet engines or weapons. The pad lowers the incoming signal by 10dB and can be found online for $20.

3. While you want to minimize unwanted sounds and noise in your recordings as much as possible, do not obsess over finding the quietest recording environment because great sound effects can occur unexpectedly such as a beefed up motorcycle cruising by. If you are too uptight about getting that perfect recording environment you will slow yourself down in your efforts to gain content and just remember that you can always filter much background noise from your recordings during the editing process.

4. Wind hitting the head of your microphone will ruin your recordings so keep your recorder out of the wind by using trees, walls, or your body as a physical barrier. If you cut frequencies below 200-500 khz during editing you can get rid of some wind sound but usually your recordings will be ruined by wind.

5. Keep background music from loudspeakers or live performances out of your recordings. Your efforts will be compromised if you inadvertently include music in the background, such as the music played in a restaurant. This music is copyrighted and if it appears in your ambience recordings you will be violating copyright law.

These tips are simple and meant to point an aspiring sound effect artist in the right direction toward the creation of a sound effect library for use or for sale online. Future articles will discuss the process of editing, categorizing, and marketing these raw recordings.

Treasure Planet is a science fiction animated movie produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Released in 2002, Treasure Planet marked the 42nd animated feature in the Disney canon. It is a science fiction variation of Robert Louis Stevenson?s beloved novel Treasure Island. It employed the revolutionary technique of featuring two-dimensional animation over three-dimensional backgrounds. Indeed, this technique was used effectively on the character of John Silver, where his cybernetic arm was computer generated and the remainder of his body hand-drawn.

The plot is loosely based on Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Jim Hawkins, voiced by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, witnesses a ship crashing near the inn, where he works. The ship’s dying pilot gives him a sphere and warns, “beware the cyborg.” Shortly thereafter, a gang of pirates raids the inn. Jim, his mother, and friend, Dr. Delbert Doppler, voiced by David Hyde Pierce, barely escape. Jim learns the sphere is a holographic map that leads to the legendary “Treasure Planet.” Jim and Doppler commission a ship to find this planet. Among the ship’s crew is John Silver, voiced by Brian Murray, whom Jim suspects to be the cyborg. As the ship moves towards Treasure Planet, a mutiny erupts, led by Silver. The planet turns out to be a space station, wherein Jim, Silver and an unscrupulous pirate named Scroop seek out the treasure.

Treasure Planet was in production for over four and a half years, the original idea having been pitched by Ron Clements in 1985. Curiously, it was during this same pitch meeting that John Musker pitched the story for the outrageously successful The Little Mermaid. Roughly 350 crew members began principal production in 2000. The animators were inspired by the painterly illustrators associated with the Brandywine School of Illustration (including Howard Pyle and N.C. Wyeth). The animators utilized the animation technique known as Deep Canvas. Deep Canvas allowed the animators to place the camera’s eye anywhere the action or scene demanded, much like a live-action film. Moreover, the film was made with an adherence to Ron Clements’s 70/30 Law, wherein 70% of the animation would be of the traditional, hand-drawn variety, and 30% would be computer generated.

The prologue of the film originally featured an adult Jim Hawkins narrating the story, but this idea was scrapped as it was deemed too brooding and stymied character involvement. Additionally, a key sequence featuring Jim working on his solar surfer was to be included in the film, but the length of the opening surfing sequence required the scene be cut.

Unfortunately, Treasure Planet was a box office disappointment. Indeed, many called it a box office bomb, grossing only $38 million in light of its $140 million budget. Disney’s Buena Vista Distribution was forced to immediately adjust its fourth quarter earnings statement by $47 million. Despite the unfortunate performance, Treasure Planet was favorably received by the critics, indeed according to respected critic, Stephen Hunter, the film “boasts the purest of Disney raptures: It unites the generations, rather than driving them apart.

This is one of those dresses that you can wear to a cocktail party or a wedding. This Jessica Simpson dress has a hint of sassy, but it is elegant too. It’s great that she can pull off her classic Bohemian look and then turn around and wear a babydoll dress.

The color combo is what was most attractive to me. Don’t get me wrong this dress is all around attractive, but you know we all have that one thing that gets us about a particular garment! The colors are gold, sea green, peach, blue and rose!

This dress is really a piece of artwork that Jessica Simpson would love to parade in! Never would I have thought to combine these color’s together, but they look amazing together.

This floral print is so attractive that there is no way to ignore it! The flowers on this dress were printed on the fabric with a metallic chemical that helps them to stand out from the background with such creativity.

The amazing detailing on this dress are the pleating and the twisting on the bodice. It is really cool that the bodice is not straight across, but it has some definition to it. The twisting and the pleating are very defined, but not in a bad way.

Whoever, came up with this twisting and pleating technique together is a genius! Also, the bodice has some boning on the interior to add extra support for us and maintain the right structure on the interior and exterior of the dress.

The way this empire was designed is incredible. Stunning is one of the ways to describe this dress. Jessica Simpson would look great in this dress. If you have a similar body type then you will look great in this dress too.

Empire waist dresses turn me off most of the time because they tend to make you look pregnant when you are not! I am just not ok with that. However, the empire waist start below the breast bone line and fixes that little “pregnancy” issue.

The content of this dress is 73% silk and 27% gold lame. Then the lining is 100% polyester. Be sure to have this dress dry cleaned. Don’t try to wash this one at home!
